ePropulsion I-Series: the complete electric inboard system
The I-10, I-20, and I-40 are shaft-drive electric inboards on the 96V eSSA platform — 10 to 40 kW for sailboats and displacement cruisers. Everything you need for the conversion is here: the motor, the G-Series battery and charging, controls, wiring, and the power-distribution hardware.

Everything else your I-Series needs
The motor mounts on your engine bed; these are the energy, control, wiring, and distribution components that complete a 96V eSSA inboard system — all here, all on the eSSA platform. Not sure what your conversion needs? Book a consultation and we'll spec the whole list.
| Part | What it does |
|---|---|
| Energy & charging | |
| G-Series 96V Battery | The 96V LiFePO4 pack that powers the system — 10.2 or 23.5 kWh, parallel for more range |
| E100 48V Battery (5.1 kWh) | Alternate LiFePO4 pack for the I-10 — wired in parallel into the 96V eSSA system (IP67) |
| G-Series Charger (16A / 32A) | Charges the battery from shore power |
| G-Series MPPT (2 kW) | Charges the 96V bank from solar — pairs with hydrogeneration under sail |
| Control & monitoring | |
| Smart Controls & Displays | Throttle / side-mount control and the system display |
| Kill Switches | Safety stop for throttle or side-mount |
| GPS & Antenna Package | Adds GPS speed/position to the display |
| Wiring & communication | |
| Cables, Connectors & Bus Box | The 96V power and signal wiring that ties the system together |
| EP-CAN Extension Cables | Extends the CAN comms run (1 m / 3 m) |
| CANHub Converter | Parallels multiple chargers / expands the CAN network |
| Power conversion & distribution (installer-grade) | |
| DC-DC Converters (96V) | Steps 96V down to 12 / 24 / 48V for house loads |
| DC-AC Inverter (6 kW) | 230V AC household power from the 96V bank |
| Distribution Box 96VDC | Fused 96V DC distribution for the system |
| Distribution Box 220VAC | AC distribution for chargers / shore feed |
| Battery Isolator 96VDC | Isolates the 96V bank for service and safety |
| Rectifier 230VAC→96VDC (100A) | High-current charging from a genset or shore |
| EMS Controller | Energy-management brain for the eSSA system |

How to spec an I-Series, in three questions
Power, how it mates to your drivetrain, and battery sizing.
How much power?
Match the I-Series to the diesel you're replacing and your hull's displacement. The I-10 (10 kW) suits boats to roughly 30 ft; the I-20 (20 kW) covers mid-size cruisers; the I-40 (40 kW) is for larger and heavier hulls. We'll work from your boat's weight and current engine rating.
Will it fit my drivetrain?
The I-Series mounts on a conventional engine bed and couples to your existing shaft and coupling. Engine-bay length, shaft angle, and coupling type all matter — send us photos and measurements and we'll confirm fit before you buy.
How much battery & charging?
Size the G-Series bank to your range, then add shore charging (G-Series charger) and/or solar (96V MPPT). Under sail the prop hydrogenerates and puts energy back in the bank.

I-Series FAQ
What do I need besides the motor?
At minimum: a G-Series 96V battery and a way to charge it (the G-Series shore charger and/or the 96V MPPT for solar), plus the controls/display and the eSSA cables and bus box. Boats with AC loads add power-distribution components (DC-DC, inverter, distribution boxes, isolator, rectifier, EMS). The “Complete your system” table above lists every piece, and the I-Series reuses your existing shaft and propeller. We'll confirm the exact list for your conversion.
Will the I-Series fit my existing engine bed and shaft?
It's designed to replace a conventional inboard diesel on the existing engine bed and couple to your shaft. Fit depends on engine-bay dimensions, shaft angle, and coupling type. Send us measurements and photos and we'll confirm before you order.
What battery does the I-Series use?
The ePropulsion G-Series 96V LiFePO4 battery — 10.2 kWh (G102-100) or 23.5 kWh (G102-230) — and you can parallel packs for more range. Battery is sold separately so the bank can be sized to your boat.
Can it recharge under sail?
Yes. Under sail the spinning propeller drives the motor as a generator (hydrogeneration), putting energy back into the battery. Actual regen depends on boat speed and prop.
How is the I-Series different from the POD Drive?
The I-Series is a shaft-drive inboard that uses your existing shaft and stern gear. The POD Drive is a self-contained thru-hull unit with its own lower leg and propeller. The I-Series suits boats keeping their running gear; the POD suits new installs or boats wanting an integrated drive.
What warranty comes with the I-Series?
Covered by ePropulsion's 24-month limited warranty (from delivery to the first end customer) against defects in materials and workmanship under normal recreational use with proper installation and maintenance. Commercial or professional use is covered by your local statutory warranty instead. Blue Marine is an authorized ePropulsion dealer and will help with any claim.
