Pod Drive Evo FAQ
What's a pod drive, and how is it different from an outboard?
A pod drive mounts through the hull or transom and drives a propeller below the boat, like a quiet inboard — ideal for sailboats that want propulsion out of the way rather than a clamp-on outboard.
What battery does the Pod Drive use?
An external 48V E-Series bank — E60/E163 for most boats, or the large E100 (5120 Wh) for long range. The bank size sets your range.
Why a folding propeller?
Under sail, a folding prop collapses to cut drag, so you sail faster and quieter; it opens again under power. There's also an aluminum upgrade option.
Does the Pod Drive hydrogenerate?
The Evo pod drives can recharge the battery under sail, the same as the Navy and Spirit Evo motors — a real plus for cruising sailors.
