How to choose, in three questions
Screen or phone, local or remote, Victron or mixed — answer these and you'll know what to buy.
On-board screen, or just your phone?
If you want a gauge at the helm, add a GX Touch to a Cerbo, or get the Ekrano GX with a screen built in. If you're happy checking your phone, a Cerbo on its own (or a GlobalLink) shows everything in the free VictronConnect and VRM apps.
Local only, or remote when you're away?
At the dock or on Wi-Fi, a GX device streams to the VRM cloud for free. To watch the boat from home — bilge, batteries, temperature — add cellular: a GX LTE on a Cerbo, the all-in-one GlobalLink, or the standalone Roam hub.
Victron system, or mixed/standalone?
A Cerbo or Ekrano GX is the heart of a Victron system and talks to your inverter, MPPT, and lithium. For a non-Victron or simple boat, the Roam hub and RuuviTag sensors monitor batteries, bilge, and conditions on their own.

Monitoring FAQ
What's a GX device, and do I need one?
A GX device (like the Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX) is the hub of a Victron system — it reads your inverter, MPPT, battery monitor, and tanks, shows them on one screen or app, and streams to the free VRM cloud. If you have more than one Victron component, a GX is what makes them act as one system.
Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX — which?
Same brains; the difference is the screen. The Cerbo GX has no display, so you pair it with a GX Touch or just use your phone. The Ekrano GX builds a 7-inch touchscreen into the unit. Choose Ekrano for a clean all-in-one, or Cerbo if you want to place the screen separately (or skip it).
How do I see my system on my phone?
Two free Victron apps: VictronConnect talks to nearby gear over Bluetooth, and VRM shows your whole system from anywhere once a GX device is online. RuuviTag sensors and the Roam hub each have their own apps.
How do I monitor the boat when I'm away from it?
You need internet on board. At a dock, Wi-Fi works; away from shore power, add cellular — a GX LTE modem on a Cerbo, the all-in-one GlobalLink 520 (cellular VRM gateway with a 5-year SIM), or the standalone Roam Marine Monitor Hub for bilge, battery, and GPS alerts.
Do I need a GX Touch screen?
Only if you want a dedicated display at the helm or panel. Many owners skip it and use VictronConnect or VRM on their phone. If you do want a screen, the GX Touch comes in 5-inch and 7-inch, wall or flush mount — or get the Ekrano GX with the screen built in.
What can RuuviTag sensors do?
They're small wireless sensors that report temperature, humidity, air pressure, and movement over Bluetooth — handy for the fridge, freezer, bilge, or cabin. Add a Ruuvi Gateway and you can read them from anywhere over the internet.
Where are battery monitors and shunts (BMV, SmartShunt)?
Those live in our battery monitors collection. A shunt measures exact amps in and out and true state of charge, then reports to your GX or phone — a great companion to anything on this page.
