The Torqeedo Travel 903 is a compact, high-efficiency electric outboard with an integrated 915 Wh lithium-ion battery built right into the motor head, so there is nothing extra to buy or wire. It delivers 900 W of input power (about a 2.5 HP-equivalent shaft output), whisper-quiet operation, and clean, fume-free propulsion for tenders, dinghies, inflatables, and small daysailers up to roughly 1.3 tons. Fully waterproof to IP67, solar-charge compatible, and fitted with an onboard computer that shows GPS-based range, it makes electric boating genuinely simple.
Key Features
- Integrated 915 Wh lithium-ion battery — built into the motor, with solar-charging compatibility (up to a 160 W panel via the optional solar cable).
- 900 W input power (~2.5 HP-equivalent shaft output, 3 HP-equivalent thrust) for reliable small-craft propulsion.
- Onboard computer with GPS — live battery level, speed, and remaining range in time and distance.
- Whisper-quiet operation — enjoy the water without engine noise or fumes.
- Lightweight & portable — integrated carry handle; total weight about 38 lbs (17.3 kg).
- Waterproof to IP67 and shipped with a weedless propeller.
- TorqTrac Bluetooth app — view range and trip data on your smartphone.
- Available in Short (S) and Long (L) shaft versions.
How to Measure Your Transom Height & Choose Your Shaft Length
Picking the right shaft length is the single most important fitment decision on any outboard. It comes down to your boat's transom height — if the shaft is too short the propeller ventilates (sucks air) and loses thrust; too long and it adds unnecessary drag.
- Measure your transom height. With the boat level, measure straight down from the top of the transom (where the motor clamps) to the lowest point of the hull/keel at the centerline.
- Match it to the shaft length. Per Torqeedo's own guidance, a transom of about 15 in (38 cm) calls for the Short (S) shaft; about 20 in (51 cm) calls for the Long (L) shaft.
- When you're between sizes, size up. A slightly long shaft runs fine; a too-short shaft will cavitate.
| Shaft option | Shaft length | Fits transom up to | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Short (S) | 24.6 in (62.5 cm) | ~15 in (38 cm) | Inflatables, tenders, small dinghies |
| Long (L) | 29.5 in (75 cm) | ~20 in (51 cm) | Daysailers, keelboats, deeper transoms |
