Which inverter/charger fits your system?
One box that inverts battery power to AC and charges from shore or generator — Victron MultiPlus and Quattro, from 500 VA to 10 kVA.

| Model | Battery | Power | AC output | Best for | From |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| MultiPlus (120V) | 12 / 24 / 48V | 500 VA – 3 kVA | 120V | The workhorse — one shore/genset input, entry to mid systems | $308.55 USD |
| MultiPlus-II (120V) | 12 / 24 / 48V | 3 – 5 kVA | 120V | Current flagship — ESS, grid-code, marine & off-grid | $839.95 USD |
| MultiPlus-II 2x120V | 12 / 24V | 3 kVA | 120 / 240V split | Split-phase shore power (120/240V) | $1,019.95 USD |
| Quattro (120V) | 12 / 24 / 48V | 5 – 10 kVA | 120V | Two AC inputs (shore + generator), largest loads | $1,389.75 USD |
| Quattro-II 2x120V | 12 / 24V | 3 kVA | 120 / 240V split | Split-phase with two AC inputs | $1,308.15 USD |
Models above are 120V (North America); Euro 50Hz / 230V versions of the MultiPlus, MultiPlus-II, and Quattro are also stocked — just ask. Only need one function? See plain inverters or battery chargers.
How to choose, in three questions
Power, how many AC inputs, and whether you need split phase — answer these and you'll know what to buy.
How much power — and what surges?
Add up the continuous watts you'll run at once, then leave headroom for motors, pumps, and air conditioning that spike on startup. Inverter/chargers are rated in VA: 2–3 kVA suits most boats and rigs; 5 kVA and up is liveaboard and whole-home territory. Bigger units also charge faster, since charger amps scale with size.
One AC input, or two?
A MultiPlus accepts a single AC input — shore power or a generator. A Quattro takes two and switches between them automatically, so you never re-plug when the genset kicks on. If you run both shore and a generator, the Quattro earns its keep.
Do you need 120/240V split phase?
Most boats and RVs run on 120V. If you have 240V appliances (a well pump, a large AC unit, a home-style range), you want a split-phase model — the 2x120V MultiPlus-II or Quattro-II — or two units stacked. Not sure? We'll check your panel.

Inverter/charger FAQ
What's the difference between a MultiPlus and a Quattro?
Both invert and charge. The MultiPlus has one AC input (shore power or a generator); the Quattro has two and switches between them automatically — ideal when you have both a shore connection and a genset. Quattros also reach the largest power ratings.
MultiPlus vs MultiPlus-II — which should I get?
The MultiPlus-II is the newer generation: it adds grid-code/anti-islanding compliance, an external current-transformer input, and stronger ESS (energy-storage) support, making it the default for modern marine and off-grid builds. The original MultiPlus is still a great, often more affordable choice for straightforward systems.
What do the numbers mean, like 12/3000/120-50?
Victron's shorthand reads: battery voltage / inverter VA / charger amps - transfer amps. So 12/3000/120-50 is a 12V unit, 3000 VA of output, a 120 A battery charger, and a 50 A AC transfer relay. Once you know the pattern, the whole lineup is easy to read.
Do I need 120/240V split phase?
Only if you have 240V appliances — a well pump, a large air conditioner, or a home-style range. For those, choose a 2x120V model (MultiPlus-II 2x120V or Quattro-II) or stack two units. Most boats and RVs run fine on standard 120V.
What are PowerControl and PowerAssist?
Two Victron features that make a small shore connection go further. PowerControl caps how much current the unit draws from shore or a generator so you don't trip the breaker; PowerAssist adds battery power on top of shore power for short surges, so a 15 A dock pedestal can still run a microwave.
Will it work with my lithium bank and a GX display?
Yes. These are VE.Bus units that integrate with Victron lithium systems and a Cerbo GX (or similar) for full monitoring, charge coordination, and ESS control from VictronConnect or a touchscreen.
Inverter/charger, or a separate inverter and charger?
If you want shore/generator charging and AC output in one box with automatic transfer, an inverter/charger is simpler and cleaner. If you only ever invert, a plain inverter is cheaper; if you only need to charge, see our battery chargers.
