Note: This is a 230V / 50Hz (European standard) model with a single-phase output, most often used as a like-for-like replacement on a European-built boat. For US power, the simplest path is the US 120V version of the MultiPlus. Alternatively, to run this 230V unit on US power, configure it for 60Hz and pair it with a Victron Autotransformer also set to 60Hz.
The Victron MultiPlus is a true sine wave inverter, an adaptive multi-stage battery charger, and a high-speed AC transfer switch in a single compact enclosure. Connect one shore-power or generator inlet, your battery bank, and your loads to one device - and when the AC source drops, the MultiPlus takes over the load in milliseconds, so connected electronics keep running without interruption.

Inverter, charger, and transfer switch in one box
A low-distortion pure sine wave inverter, a smart adaptive charger, and an integrated AC transfer switch (16 A on 500-1600VA models, 32 A on the 2000VA). One AC input feeds the unit - it charges when shore or generator power is present and inverts from the battery when it isn't. (If you need two AC inputs for both shore power and a generator with automatic source selection, look at the Quattro instead.)
PowerControl and PowerAssist
Set a current limit on the AC input and the MultiPlus uses only the leftover capacity for charging, so the inlet breaker never trips (PowerControl). When a peak load exceeds the inlet rating, it supplements from the battery and recharges once the peak passes (PowerAssist).
High start-up power and Search Mode
High inrush capability starts demanding loads such as power converters for LED or halogen lamps, and electric tools. When idle, Search Mode cuts no-load consumption by roughly 70%.
Adaptive multi-stage charging - lithium and lead-acid friendly
A four-stage charge profile (bulk, absorption, float, storage) with adaptive-charge software and an included battery temperature sensor, suitable for lithium, AGM, gel, and flooded batteries. House-battery charge current ranges from 10 A up to 80 A by model, plus a 1 A trickle output to keep an engine or generator starter battery topped up.
Scales with your system: parallel and three phase
Up to six MultiPlus units can run in parallel for higher output, and three units configure for three phase. Parallel and three-phase operation on the 500/800/1200VA models use an RJ45 splitter (Victron part ASS030065510).

Not directly - its output is 230V / 50Hz (European standard). The simplest path for a US system is the 120V version of the MultiPlus. To run this 230V unit on US power, configure it for 60Hz and pair it with a Victron Autotransformer also configured for 60Hz.
What's the difference between the MultiPlus and the Quattro?
The MultiPlus has one AC input. The Quattro has two AC inputs with a built-in transfer switch and automatic source selection. If you only ever connect one AC source, the MultiPlus is all you need.
Are these models lithium battery compatible?
Yes. The adaptive charger supports lithium (LiFePO4), AGM, gel, and flooded batteries, with custom voltage and current profiles set in VictronConnect or VEConfigure.
