Note: This is a 230V / 50Hz (European standard) model with a single-phase output. It's most often used to replace a like-for-like inverter/charger on a European-built boat. For US-standard 120/240V split-phase output (two 120V legs, neutral, and ground), configure the MultiPlus-II for 60Hz and pair it with a Victron Autotransformer also set to 60Hz - the inverter supplies 230V/60Hz and the autotransformer splits it into 120/240V.
The Victron MultiPlus-II GX is a MultiPlus-II inverter/charger with a GX system controller built right in. It combines a true sine wave inverter, an adaptive multi-stage charger, a high-speed AC transfer switch, ESS-grade anti-islanding, and an integrated GX device - display, WiFi, Ethernet, and VE.Direct - in one enclosure, so you don't need a separate Cerbo GX to monitor and control the system.
Available in 230V / 50Hz at 24V or 48V DC, in 3 kVA and 5 kVA sizes. Choose your model from the variant selector above.
Who the MultiPlus-II GX is built for
- European-built boats - a like-for-like 230V / 50Hz replacement inverter/charger, with the bonus of a built-in GX display and WiFi for monitoring.
- Energy Storage Systems (ESS) - the integrated GX, anti-islanding, and external current-sensor support make this a natural fit for grid-parallel solar-plus-battery systems with self-consumption or grid backup.
- Off-grid homes and cabins (230V) - pair with MPPT solar and a 24V or 48V battery bank for a self-consumption or backup system that still accepts a generator.
- Installers building remote-monitored systems - the on-board GX reports the whole system to the free VRM Portal without a separate controller.
Why this is the MultiPlus-II GX
Integrated GX device - no separate Cerbo needed
The on-board GX includes a 2 x 16 character display plus Ethernet, USB, VE.Direct, BMS-Can, and WiFi. It reads battery, inverter, and solar charge controller parameters locally and reports the whole system to the free VRM Portal. The BMS-Can interface connects a compatible CAN-bus managed battery (note: this is not a VE.Can port). In parallel or three-phase systems, only one GX unit is needed.
Single AC input with a no-break transfer switch
One AC input feeds the unit - it charges from shore or generator when AC is present and inverts from the battery when it isn't. The main output rides through any source loss in under 20 milliseconds, fast enough that computers and other electronics keep running. (If you need two AC inputs for both shore power and a generator with automatic source selection, look at the Quattro instead.)
PowerControl and PowerAssist
Set a maximum shore or generator current and the unit uses only the leftover capacity for charging, so the inlet breaker never trips (PowerControl). When a peak load exceeds the inlet rating, it supplements from the battery and recharges once the peak passes (PowerAssist). An optional external AC current sensor (50 A or 100 A) extends these functions to shared circuits and optimizes self-consumption.
Two AC outputs
The main output is no-break for critical loads. The second (auxiliary) output, rated 32 A, is live only when an AC source is present - so non-critical loads like a water heater can't discharge the battery overnight.
Adaptive multi-stage charging - lithium and lead-acid friendly
A four-stage charge profile (bulk, absorption, float, storage) with adaptive-charge software and an included battery temperature sensor, fully programmable for lithium, AGM, gel, and flooded banks. Maximum charge current is 70 A (24/3000), 35 A (48/3000), or 70 A (48/5000).
ESS-ready with built-in anti-islanding
Built-in anti-islanding and grid-code approvals (see Victron's certificates) let the MultiPlus-II GX run a Victron Energy Storage System - self-consumption, peak-shaving, or grid backup - alongside SmartSolar MPPTs or a grid-tie PV inverter and a lithium bank.
Scales with your system
Up to six units run in parallel on a single VE.Bus for higher output, and three units configure for three phase. Only one GX unit is needed across the whole parallel or three-phase system.

Installation and sizing help
Wiring a MultiPlus-II GX isn't plug-and-play. Battery cable sizing, fusing, AC inlet rating, and bonding all need to match the variant you choose - and if you're deriving US split phase, the Autotransformer has to be sized and configured too. Two free resources to start with:
- Victron Wiring Unlimited - the canonical reference for sizing the DC and AC sides of a Victron system.
- Our AWG to Metric Conversion chart.

Frequently asked questions
What does the GX in MultiPlus-II GX mean?
It means the GX system controller is built into the inverter/charger - a 2 x 16 display plus Ethernet, USB, VE.Direct, BMS-Can, and WiFi. You get local monitoring and full VRM Portal remote access without buying a separate Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX.
Can I use this 230V unit on US 120/240V power?
Not directly - its output is 230V / 50Hz (European standard). To run on US power, configure the MultiPlus-II for 60Hz and pair it with a Victron Autotransformer also configured for 60Hz, which converts the 230V/60Hz output into US-standard 120/240V split phase. This is a common approach when a European-built boat needs to run on US shore power.
How many AC inputs does it have?
One. The MultiPlus-II GX has a single AC input. If you need two AC inputs (shore plus generator) with automatic source selection, choose a Quattro instead.
Is it lithium battery compatible?
Yes. The charger is fully programmable for LiFePO4 and other lithium chemistries, and the BMS-Can interface connects a compatible CAN-bus managed battery.
What warranty does it come with?
A 5-year limited warranty from Victron Energy, upgradable to 10 years for an additional 10% of the purchase price. Blue Marine handles the warranty claim process for you. Email support@bluemarine.com.
