The Victron GX IO-Extender 150 is a compact, professional-grade expansion module that adds input, output, and automation capability to a Victron GX system — without the cost or complexity of adding another GX device. It's built for marine, off-grid, and industrial installs where you need to read extra sensors or switch extra loads from the same Venus OS dashboard.
The IO-Extender connects directly to a GX device (such as the Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX) over USB and is powered from that port — no separate supply needed. Everything is configured and controlled through the GX Switch pane, the VRM portal, and Node-RED, so you can build anything from simple switching to fully custom automation logic, locally or remotely.
What it adds to your GX system
- 8 digital I/O channels — configurable as 8 inputs, 8 outputs, or 4 inputs + 4 outputs, set up in the GX interface and Node-RED. Inputs accept 3.8–5.5 V; outputs are 5 V (4 mA max). Each channel has an LED state indicator. (Isolated from USB.)
- 4 PWM outputs — 5 V, 8-bit resolution at 1.5625 kHz, for proportional control of compatible devices such as dimmable lighting or variable-speed equipment. Per-channel LEDs. (Isolated from USB.)
- 2 latching (bi-stable) relays — potential-free, and they hold their state through a power loss. Contact rating (resistive): DC 3 A @ 30 V, 1 A @ 60 V, 0.3 A @ 220 V (90 W max); AC 2 A @ 60 V, 1 A @ 125 V, 0.5 A @ 250 V (125 VA max).
- Solid-state DC switch — silent, efficient load control up to 4 A, for battery systems up to 70 VDC. (Isolated from USB.)
- Tool-free spring terminals — fast, secure wiring in tight cabinets.
Installer note — driving a relay from a digital output: the digital outputs source only 4 mA max. At 4 mA the internal 560 Ω series resistor drops 2.24 V, leaving about 2.76 V at the output — not enough to pull in a relay coil. To switch a relay or any real load from a digital output, drive it through a transistor or FET, or use the built-in latching relays / solid-state switch instead.
