The Orion non-isolated high-power DC-DC converter series delivers stable, high-current voltage conversion between common DC systems — 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V. Use it to run 12 V loads from a 24 V or 48 V bank, to step 12 V up to 24 V, or to feed heavy-draw DC equipment with a clean, regulated supply. These are the workhorse converters for marine, RV, commercial-vehicle, and industrial systems where galvanic isolation isn't required.
Converter — and, on adjustable models, a buffer charger
Models with an adjustable output voltage can do double duty: set the output to your battery's float voltage and they will buffer-charge a battery — for example, keeping a 12 V starter or accessory battery topped up from a 24 V system. The fixed-output models (the 12/24-8, 24/12-40, and 24/12-60) are regulated converters/power supplies only and are not intended for charging. None of these are smart, multi-stage chargers; for adaptive alternator charging of a service bank, use an Orion-Tr Smart or Orion XS DC-DC charger.
High current, efficient, and continuous-duty
The range runs from 8 A up to 80 A of continuous output, with efficiencies up to 96%. Higher-current models use a temperature-controlled fan; all are protected against short circuit, overload, and over-temperature. Up to five units can be paralleled (adjustable models) to increase total output.
Simple, flexible installation
Most models include a remote on/off terminal, so an ignition signal or low-power switch can control the converter without a high-current switch in the input wiring. Connections vary by model: 6.3 mm Faston (spade) tabs on lower-current units, M6 bolts on higher-current units, and binding posts on the dedicated binding-post versions. Operating range is −20 to +55 °C.
Installation note: these converters are rated IP20 (indoor / protected location). On a boat or in an RV, mount them in a dry, ventilated space away from spray.
