The Victron BatteryProtect disconnects non-essential loads before a battery is discharged too far — so you keep enough power to crank the engine and the battery isn't damaged by deep discharge. It switches the load off below a set voltage and reconnects once the battery recovers.
It uses MOSFET switching, not a relay, so there are no contacts to wear and no sparks — it's ignition-proof. A built-in 7-segment display makes setting the engage/disengage thresholds easy, and the BatteryProtect auto-ranges between 12V and 24V (the 48V model is a separate variant).
How it protects
- Delayed alarm (12s) so cranking the engine won't trip it; the load then disconnects 90 seconds after the alarm, and reconnects 30 seconds after voltage recovers
- Over-voltage protection — the load is also disconnected if DC voltage climbs too high (above 16V/32V; above 64V on the 48V model)
- Ultra-low current draw, important for lithium banks after a low-voltage shutdown
- A special Li-ion mode lets a VE.Bus BMS control it, and it can also act as a charge interrupter between a charger and a lithium battery
Note: the BatteryProtect manages current in one direction only (battery to load) — it is not designed for reverse current from a charging source. Available 65A, 100A and 220A (12/24V), plus 100A (48V).
