Overview

The N-3 is Bixpy's full electric outboard — a 1.2 kW (3 HP-equivalent) motor from their Freedom Series, built for jon boats, dinghies, tenders, and inflatables in the 8–14 ft range. The kit is complete: motor, the 1440 Wh NB-1440 battery, charger, and magnetic kill switch. Hang it on the transom, drop the battery in, and you have quiet, fume-free propulsion with instant torque and an LCD tiller readout.

If you've been comparing small gas outboards or the established electric brands, the N-3's pitch is simple: no pull cord, no fuel to stow on a small boat, no winterizing — and the whole system, battery included, weighs 44 lb. For a sailboat tender or a lake jon boat, that's an easy motor to live with.

Choose your shaft length below — short (22.5 in) suits most dinghies and jon boats with 15–16 in transoms; long (27.3 in) suits deeper transoms around 20 in. Measure from the top of the transom to the bottom of the hull if you're not sure, and we're happy to help.

Applications & Use Cases

Sailboat and trawler tenders, jon boats, inflatable dinghies, small skiffs — anywhere a 2–3.5 HP gas outboard usually goes. Electric shines on a tender: no gas can in the lazarette, no carb to gum up between uses, and quiet enough for an early-morning anchorage. It pairs naturally with the solar and lithium systems many of our customers already run aboard.

Compatibility

The N-3 runs exclusively on the NB-1440 Power Pack — a spare doubles your range on longer runs. Note the SUN80 solar panel does not charge the NB-1440; charging is from the included wall charger.

Care & Maintenance

Rinse with fresh water after saltwater use, check the prop for line and weeds, and store the battery indoors at moderate temperature (it operates 5–131°F and stores -22–158°F). No oil, no impeller, no winterization.

Warranty

Covered by Bixpy's 1-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship (2 years in the EU), from the date of original purchase from Blue Marine or another authorized Bixpy dealer. Made for recreational use — commercial and rental use isn't covered. Warranty service runs through Bixpy's US headquarters in San Diego, and as an authorized dealer we'll help with any claim.
