How to Set Up the Victron Connect App on Your Phone

VictronConnect is Victron Energy’s free mobile app — available for iOS and Android — that connects to Victron devices over Bluetooth. Every Victron product with a “Smart” designation is compatible. The app shows you live data, lets you configure device settings, runs diagnostics, and delivers over-the-air firmware updates.

Step 1: Download the App

Search “VictronConnect” in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) and install it. The app is free. No account or subscription is required to use basic Bluetooth connectivity.

If you want to connect to the Victron Remote Monitoring (VRM) portal, you’ll set up a free VRM account separately through vrm.victronenergy.com. VRM requires a GX device (Cerbo GX or similar) aboard; the phone app alone handles local Bluetooth only.

Step 2: Enable Bluetooth and Location Permissions

On iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Bluetooth → VictronConnect (enable).

On Android: Settings → Apps → VictronConnect → Permissions → Location (enable “While Using the App”). Also ensure Bluetooth is enabled in your device’s quick settings.

If the app isn’t finding devices, permission issues are the most common cause. Check them first.

Step 3: Open the App and Scan for Devices

Open VictronConnect. The main screen automatically scans for nearby Victron devices. Each discovered device appears as a card showing the device type, model, and signal strength. Devices need to be powered on and within Bluetooth range — typically 10 meters in open air.

Default PIN: 000000 (six zeros). You can change it inside the app under the device’s settings after connecting.

Step 4: Connect to a Device and Read Live Data

SmartShunt / BMV battery monitor: Shows state of charge (%), voltage, current (positive = charging, negative = discharging), power, time remaining, and historical min/max values.

SmartSolar MPPT: Shows solar panel voltage and current, battery voltage, charge current, daily yield (kWh), and current charge state (Bulk, Absorption, Float).

Blue Smart Charger: Shows charge stage, current voltage, charge current, and battery temperature (if temperature sensor connected).

MultiPlus-II (with Bluetooth dongle): Shows AC input voltage, AC output, battery voltage, and inverter/charger state.

Step 5: Configure Device Settings

From any device’s live data view, tap the settings icon (gear wheel) in the top right corner.

SmartShunt: Set battery capacity (Ah), charged voltage threshold, and tail current. These need to match your specific battery — check your battery manufacturer’s documentation.

SmartSolar MPPT: Set charge profile (absorption voltage, float voltage, absorption time).

Blue Smart Charger: Set battery chemistry (AGM, Gel, LiFePO4). The app loads the correct charge curve. Verify the absorption and float voltages against your battery specs.

Step 6: Firmware Updates

VictronConnect checks for firmware updates automatically when you connect to a device. Tap to view available updates, then tap “Update” and keep the phone close. Don’t close the app until the update completes. Most updates take 2–5 minutes. Don’t interrupt an update — a failed flash mid-process leaves a device in recovery mode.

Step 7: Multiple Devices, One App

VictronConnect handles multiple devices simultaneously. The home screen shows all discovered devices within range. If you have a Cerbo GX, you can also access all connected devices through VRM remotely. VictronConnect is for local Bluetooth access; the Cerbo + VRM combination extends that access to anywhere with an internet connection.
