The Quattro 15kVA 277V brings battery backup and off-grid capability to a 277/480V three-phase service - the power most commercial, industrial, and agricultural buildings in North America already run on. Each unit inverts a 48V battery bank to 277 VAC; wire three as a three-phase set and you get a full 277/480V system rated 36 kW continuous and 75 kW surge. A 200 A adaptive charger, two AC inputs, and an automatic transfer switch are built into one enclosure - so the site gets clean backup, peak-shaving, and generator support without assembling a rack of separate inverters, chargers, and switchgear.
Running at 48V DC, the Quattro keeps the same field-proven VE.Bus architecture Victron uses across its marine and off-grid line, so paralleling, three-phase coordination, and VRM remote monitoring are built in - there are no third-party controls to integrate. Start with one three-phase set and grow to four (twelve units, 144 kW) as the load does. If your facility is already wired for 277/480V, this lets you add storage and backup directly on that bus instead of stepping the voltage up or down. It is a three-phase-only unit - plan on a minimum of three.
Who the Quattro 15kVA 277V is built for
- Commercial and industrial buildings - battery backup or peak-shaving on a 277/480V service for warehouses, shops, and light manufacturing.
- Agriculture and pumping - keep 480V pumps, irrigation, and processing running through outages or off-grid.
- Telecom and critical loads - sub-20 ms transfer on the primary output keeps controls, IT, and comms online through source changes.
- Generator + grid sites - grid on one AC input, generator on the other, with automatic transfer and PowerAssist.
How the 277/480V three-phase design works
Each unit inverts your 48V battery bank to 277 VAC. Wired as a three-phase set of three, the units produce 277V line-to-neutral and 480V line-to-line - the same power your facility's panel, motors, and HVAC already use. Sets are added over VE.Bus and coordinated natively by Victron's System Configurator; no third-party paralleling hardware is required.
Why this is the Quattro 15kVA 277V
Dual AC inputs with an integrated transfer switch
Two independent AC inputs (up to 2x 100 A feed-through) with a built-in transfer switch mean no external ATS. A typical site puts grid power on input 1 and a generator on input 2; if the grid drops, the Quattro transfers to the generator automatically, and if neither is present it inverts from battery. Each input has its own configurable current limit.
Two AC outputs
The main output is no-break and rides through a source loss in under 20 milliseconds - fast enough for controls, IT, and telecom hardware. The auxiliary output is live only when an AC source is present, so non-critical loads can't drain the battery during an outage.
PowerControl and PowerAssist
PowerControl caps the current drawn from a generator or service so breakers never trip. PowerAssist supplements a peak load from the battery when demand briefly exceeds the source - so a smaller generator can cover larger transient demands, and the spare capacity recharges the bank once the peak passes.
200 A adaptive charging
Each unit charges at up to 200 A (600 A per three-phase set), with an adaptive four-stage profile and an included battery temperature sensor. Fully programmable for LiFePO4, AGM, gel, and flooded banks. Large commercial banks recharge quickly from grid or generator during off-peak hours.
Scales to 144 kW
Start with one three-phase set (three units, 36 kW continuous / 75 kW surge) and grow to four sets - twelve units - for 144 kW continuous and 2,400 A of combined charging. The whole system runs as one over VE.Bus.
Monitor and manage from anywhere
Add a Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX and the system is visible in the free VRM Portal from any device - battery state of charge, load, and system status - with firmware modes for off-grid, grid-interactive, and ESS operation. Configure with VEConfigure and the VE.Bus System Configurator.

Installation and sizing help
A 277/480V three-phase battery system is an engineered, permit-level installation - battery bank sizing, DC fusing and distribution, three-phase wiring, and grounding all need to be designed for the site and signed off by a licensed electrician. Two starting references:
- Victron Wiring Unlimited - sizing the DC and AC sides of a Victron system.
- Quattro 15kVA 277V datasheet.
Our Victron-trained team will help size the inverters, battery bank, charging, and distribution as one package. Email support@bluemarine.com or call (800) 628-6306.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use this for single-phase or 120/240V?
No. This unit outputs 277 VAC and must be configured in three-phase (minimum three units). For residential split-phase 120/240V, use the Victron MultiPlus-II or the 120V Quattro.
How many units do I need?
A minimum of three (one three-phase set, 36 kW continuous). Larger sites add sets of three up to twelve units total (144 kW continuous, 2,400 A charging).
Does it include solar charge controllers?
No. Add solar through external Victron SmartSolar MPPT controllers that charge the 48V battery bank; the Quattro inverts that stored energy to 277/480V. For grid-tied sites, Victron's ESS mode coordinates solar, battery, and grid.
Can it run alongside a 480V generator?
Yes - that's a primary use case. Grid on AC input 1, generator on AC input 2, with automatic transfer and PowerAssist so a smaller generator can cover larger transient loads.
What battery bank do I need?
Size it to your load and backup duration. A single three-phase set charges at up to 600 A, so the 48V bank must support that charge rate. Talk to us and we'll size it with you.
