Safer shore power. Quieter onboard. No more galvanic corrosion.
Connecting to shore power should never put your boat — or your crew — at risk. The Victron Energy Isolation Transformer is the professional-grade solution trusted across the marine industry to do one job exceptionally well: cleanly separate your vessel’s electrical system from the dockside grid.
By galvanically isolating your onboard AC system from shore, the transformer eliminates the stray currents that quietly eat away at hulls, props, shafts, and underwater metals. The result is straightforward — no more electrolytic corrosion, no more guesswork about dock wiring quality, and a genuinely safe electrical environment whether you’re tied up in your home marina or plugged in halfway across the world.
Why it belongs on board
- Stops electrolytic corrosion at the source. Galvanic isolation prevents shore-side leakage currents from finding a return path through your underwater metals, protecting the structural and mechanical integrity of your vessel over the long term.
- Guarantees a safe electrical system. A floating secondary winding means a fault on shore cannot energise your boat’s bonding system, dramatically reducing the risk of electric shock to anyone on board or in the water nearby.
- Toroidal-wound for quiet, efficient operation. Victron’s toroidal core technology runs cooler, quieter, and at higher efficiency than conventional transformers — important on a vessel where noise and waste heat are never welcome.
- Soft-start circuitry. When you plug in, controlled inrush current keeps the shore-side breaker from tripping — no more apologies to the marina office or trips down the pontoon to reset a pedestal.
- Voltage flexibility for international cruising. Models in the range support 115V and 230V shore inputs, so you can move between European, North American, and mixed-supply marinas without rewiring your boat.
Choose the rating that matches your vessel
The range covers several output ratings, so you can size the transformer to your real onboard load:
- 2000W — ideal for smaller sail and motor yachts with modest AC demand
- 3600W / 3600W Auto — the workhorse for mid-sized cruising yachts; the Auto version automatically detects and adapts to 115V or 230V shore supply
- 4500W / 4500W Auto — for larger yachts with full galleys, air-con, and watermakers; rated 38 A at 115 V. The standard version selects 115V or 230V manually, the Auto version detects and switches automatically
- 7000W — high-capacity power for performance yachts and larger motor vessels
