Victron Energy Filax 2 Automatic Transfer Switch (16A)

The Victron Filax 2 is an ultra-fast automatic transfer switch that keeps sensitive loads running when AC power changes hands. It normally feeds the load from a priority source — shore power, mains, or a generator — and switches to an alternate source such as an inverter the instant the priority supply drops out of its voltage or frequency limits.

With a transfer time under 20 milliseconds (16ms maximum), the changeover is fast enough that computers, network gear, industrial controls, and modern entertainment systems carry on without rebooting or dropping out. Once the priority source has been stable for 30 seconds, the Filax automatically transfers the load back.

It is an open-transition (break-before-make) switch rated for 16A continuous, housed in a rugged IP65 enclosure. A simple jumper sets the operating frequency (50Hz or 60Hz), and clear LED indicators show which source is feeding the load and flag a priority-source fault. The Filax 2 is intended for sensitive electronics — not high-power household loads such as washing machines or electric motors — and both inputs must be protected at 16A or less.
