The Torqeedo Travel XP Remote (1164-00) is the remote-steer version of Torqeedo's strongest Travel motor, built for boats run from a helm or console rather than a tiller. It delivers 1,600 W of input power (1,400 W shaft output, ~5 HP-equivalent) for about 44% more thrust than the standard Travel, with quiet, clean, emission-free operation and full IP67 waterproofing.
This version includes the TorqLink remote throttle (control type R, item 1976-00) so you can steer and control the motor remotely. Battery not included — the Travel XP Remote is designed for the Torqeedo Travel Battery XP (recommended for full output) and also runs on the standard Travel Battery at reduced output. Batteries are sold separately.

How to Measure Your Transom Height & Choose Your Shaft Length
Picking the right shaft length is the single most important fitment decision on any outboard. It comes down to your boat's transom height — if the shaft is too short the propeller ventilates (sucks air) and loses thrust; too long and it adds unnecessary drag.
- Measure your transom height. With the boat level, measure straight down from the top of the transom (where the motor clamps) to the lowest point of the hull/keel at the centerline.
- Match it to the shaft length. Per Torqeedo's own guidance, a transom of about 15 in (38 cm) calls for the Short (S) shaft; about 20 in (51 cm) calls for the Long (L) shaft.
- When you're between sizes, size up. A slightly long shaft runs fine; a too-short shaft will cavitate.
| Shaft option | Shaft length | Fits transom up to | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Short (S) | 24.6 in (62.5 cm) | ~15 in (38 cm) | Inflatables, tenders, small dinghies |
| Long (L) | 29.5 in (75 cm) | ~20 in (51 cm) | Daysailers, keelboats, deeper transoms |
