Direct, hands-on electric power for tenders, dinghies, and small sailboats. Six horsepower of clean thrust with everything you need built right into the tiller.
Overview
Some boats are made for a tiller — and the Torqeedo Cruise 3.0 T is made for those boats. Whether you're running a club tender, exploring a quiet cove in a small day-sailer, or repowering a fishing skiff, the tiller version of Torqeedo's most popular small-craft motor puts everything within arm's reach: throttle, integrated display, GPS-based range readout, and an emergency magnetic stop key for safety.
Built around the same 48-volt platform as its remote-steered sibling, the Cruise 3.0 T delivers 3,000 watts of input power — the propulsive equivalent of a 6 HP gasoline outboard — without the noise, fumes, or annual tune-ups. Pair it with a single Power 48-5000 lithium battery for up to roughly 1 hour 40 minutes of full-throttle running, or stretch that to a full day at relaxed cruising speeds. The system scales up to 16 batteries on the same TorqLink backbone.
Key Features
- 6 HP propulsive equivalence from 3,000 W of input power — real working capability for boats up to about 3 tons.
- 142 lbs of static thrust for confident handling in current and crosswinds.
- Integrated tiller computer with on-screen speed, power draw, and GPS-based remaining range.
- Emergency magnetic stop key for rider-safety peace of mind.
- Whisper-quiet operation that won't disturb the anchorage.
- Saltwater-ready with upgraded corrosion-resistant materials and a metallic shaft cage.
- TorqLink connectivity for clean integration with Torqeedo's 48 V battery and accessory ecosystem.
- Scalable battery system — start with one Power 48-5000 and grow to a 16-battery bank.
How to Measure Your Transom Height & Choose Your Shaft Length
Picking the right shaft length is the single most important fitment decision on any outboard. It comes down to your boat's transom height — if the shaft is too short the propeller ventilates and loses thrust; too long and it adds unnecessary drag.
- Measure your transom height. With the boat level, measure straight down from the top of the transom to the bottom of the hull at the centerline.
- Match it to the shaft option. The short shaft (24.6 in / 62.5 cm) suits transoms up to about 15 in (38 cm); the long shaft (29.7 in / 75.5 cm) suits transoms up to about 20 in (51 cm).
- When you're between sizes, size up. A slightly long shaft runs fine; a too-short shaft will cavitate.
| Shaft option | Total shaft length | Fits transom up to |
|---|---|---|
| Short (TS) | 24.6 in (62.5 cm) | ~15 in (38 cm) |
| Long (TL) | 29.7 in (75.5 cm) | ~20 in (51 cm) |
Why a Tiller?
Tiller control puts you in immediate contact with how the boat is responding, makes single-handed maneuvering effortless, and keeps installation simple: no steering cables, no remote-throttle cable runs, no helm modifications. Mount the motor, connect the battery, and you're underway. The integrated display means your trip data is right where your hand already is.
