Overview
The Lumera 220W Flex is the flexible sibling of the Lumera bifacial panels we already carry — same Western Canada factory, same locally tested cells, built for surfaces where a framed glass panel can't sit flat. At 59 × 30 inches and just 0.2 in thick it lays onto a curved cabin top, a bimini or a van roof and weighs 14.3 lb, so it's easy to handle solo. It's a 12V-nominal panel (18.78 V at max power) that feeds any 12V or 24V battery bank through an MPPT charge controller.

What sets it apart from the flexible panels most of us have owned is what's under the surface. Cheaper flexible panels are an EVA-only sandwich, and their classic failure is creasing between the cells over time until output drops. Lumera builds this one on a fibre-epoxy backsheet with a CPC composite interlayer for microcrack and impact protection, under a textured ETFE front that sheds water and resists UV. The cells are multi-busbar monocrystalline, and the corners are sanded round with trimmed (not sewn) edges.

Where it fits

• Van and RV roofs: conforms to a gentle roof curve and adds almost no height — a common approach is adhesive or VHB-style tape along the full perimeter so wind can't get under an edge.

• Biminis, dodgers and cabin tops: pair it with the Grommet Pad Kit and lash or strap it down; the pads stick on wherever the edge lands on your canvas.

• Off-grid sheds, cabins and trailers: anywhere a framed panel is too heavy or too tall for the structure.

Mounting and wiring notes

• Flexible panels run hotter than framed panels because there's no air gap underneath, which is why the datasheet's temperature coefficients matter more here. Expect less than the rated 220W on a hot roof at midday — that's normal for every flexible panel, not a defect.

• The 21.86 V open-circuit voltage suits any 12V MPPT controller. Two in series (about 44 Voc) still fits a Victron SmartSolar 75V input; check your controller's max PV voltage before wiring more than one in series, and remember cold mornings push Voc up.

• Many installers avoid bending the panel over a hard ridge or a radius tighter than the cell pitch, and keep the junction box on the high side so water doesn't pool against it.

• The datasheet rates the panel for a 15 A series fuse — worth a look when you parallel two or more strings.
