The ePropulsion Navy Evo Series delivers powerful, quiet, eco-friendly electric propulsion for aluminum fishing boats, dinghies, daysailers, and cruising sailboats. Designed for both saltwater and freshwater, the Navy 3.0 and Navy 6.0 Evo are a reliable, low-maintenance alternative to gas outboards for environmentally conscious boaters.
Both models use direct-drive technology for ultra-quiet operation and added durability with fewer moving parts, and an integrated hydrogeneration system that recharges your battery while under sail — extending time on the water. Connectivity through the ePropulsion app lets you monitor battery, speed, and range in real time.
Key Features
- Two power levels — Navy 3.0 (3 kW, ~6 HP) and Navy 6.0 (6 kW, ~9.9 HP) for a wide range of boats.
- Direct-drive motor — quiet, low-vibration performance with no gears or oil to maintain.
- Hydrogeneration — recharges the battery while sailing.
- Saltwater & freshwater ready — built for coastal and inland use.
- EVO controls — works with ePropulsion EVO tiller or EVO side/top-mount remote (sold separately).
- App connectivity — Bluetooth monitoring of battery level, speed, and remaining range.
How to Measure Your Transom Height & Choose Your Shaft Length
Picking the right shaft length is the single most important fitment decision on any outboard. It comes down to your boat's transom height — if the shaft is too short the propeller ventilates (sucks air) and loses thrust; too long and it adds unnecessary drag.
Measure your transom height. With the boat level, measure straight down from the top of the transom (where the motor clamps) to the bottom of the hull at the centerline.
Match it to the shaft length. As a general guide: a Short (S) shaft suits transoms up to about 15 in (38 cm); a Long (L) shaft suits transoms up to about 20 in (51 cm).
When you're between sizes, size up. A slightly long shaft runs fine; a too-short shaft will cavitate.
ePropulsion's own method adds the propeller radius and ~4 in (10 cm) of water-flow clearance to your transom height to get the total shaft length needed. The Navy Series offers a Short shaft of 25.0 in (635 mm) and a Long shaft of 29.9 in (760 mm).
| Shaft option | Total shaft length | Fits transom up to |
|---|---|---|
| Short (S) | 25.0 in (635 mm) | ~15 in (38 cm) |
| Long (L) | 29.9 in (760 mm) | ~20 in (51 cm) |
