60-day hassle-free returns
Victron Argodiode Battery Isolators charge two or three battery banks from a single alternator (or charger) while keeping the banks isolated from each other. Discharging the accessory bank can never pull down your engine-start battery — ideal for marine and automotive split-charge systems.
The Argodiode uses Schottky diodes for a low voltage drop: roughly 0.3V at low current and about 0.45V at full rated output. Every model includes a compensation diode that lets you slightly raise the alternator's output voltage to offset that drop, so the batteries still reach a full charge.
Models & connections
- Charge 2 or 3 isolated banks from one alternator; 12V and 24V systems
- Current ratings 80A to 180A (80-2SC, 80-2AC, 100-3AC, 120-2AC, 140-3AC, 160-2AC, 180-3AC)
- M6 studs on the 80A/100A models; M8 studs on 120A and up
Alternator energize input (“AC” models)
Some alternators need DC voltage on the B+ terminal to start charging — and a diode splitter blocks any return voltage from the batteries, so the alternator never wakes up. The “AC” models add a current-limited energize input that powers B+ when the engine run/stop switch is closed, solving this. (The base 80-2SC has no energize input.)
Want near-zero voltage drop instead? See the FET-based Argofet isolators, or a Cyrix combiner.
