Overview

When you need real working power on the water, the Torqeedo Cruise 6.0 R is the smallest electric outboard in the lineup that crosses into planing territory. With 6,000 watts of input power and 230 lbs of static thrust, it pushes displacement boats up to 6 tons confidently against current and wind, gets the right hull up on plane, and replaces a 9.9 HP gasoline outboard on capability — without the fuel costs, oil changes, or two-stroke noise.

The remote-steered (R) configuration is built for boats with a proper helm: console-mounted throttle, hydraulic or mechanical steering, and clean cable runs through the transom. Pair it with the Power 48-5000 lithium battery as a starting point, and scale up to 16 batteries on the same TorqLink backbone as your range and speed needs grow.

How to Measure Your Transom Height & Choose Your Shaft Length

Picking the right shaft length is the single most important fitment decision on any outboard. It comes down to your boat's transom height — if the shaft is too short the propeller ventilates and loses thrust; too long and it adds unnecessary drag.

1. Measure your transom height. With the boat level, measure straight down from the top of the transom to the bottom of the hull at the centerline.
2. Match it to the shaft option. The short shaft (24.6 in / 62.5 cm) suits transoms up to about 15 in (38 cm); the long shaft (29.7 in / 75.5 cm) suits transoms up to about 20 in (51 cm).
3. When you're between sizes, size up. A slightly long shaft runs fine; a too-short shaft will cavitate.
