The Victron Phoenix Charger is a compact, rugged workhorse built to charge lead-acid and AGM banks reliably for years. A microprocessor-controlled, adaptive 4-stage algorithm does the thinking for you, while the marine-grade aluminium case and forced cooling let it run hard in a hot engine room. It charges anywhere in the world, maintains a starter battery on the side, and — unlike a simple plug-in charger — protects your batteries with temperature compensation and at-terminal voltage sensing.
Adaptive 4-stage charging
The Phoenix uses a true four-stage bulk → absorption → float → storage characteristic. The variable absorption time keeps absorption short after shallow discharges (a boat sitting on shore power) to avoid overcharging, and extends it automatically after a deep discharge so the bank comes back to full. BatterySafe mode limits the rate of voltage rise near the gassing point to prevent damage during fast charging, and Storage mode drops the float voltage when the battery has sat undisturbed for 24 hours — then refreshes it weekly — to minimise gassing, corrosion, and sulphation while the boat is laid up.
Two banks plus a starter battery (2+1)
Each Phoenix has two isolated outputs for two house banks, plus a third 4 A output at slightly lower voltage to keep an engine-start battery topped up. The isolation means a deeply discharged house bank can't pull down your starting battery through the charger.
Charges anywhere, on AC or DC
A universal 90–265 VAC input (45–65 Hz) means one charger works on US, European, and dockside power without reconfiguration, and it will also run on a 90–400 VDC supply for AC-DC or DC-DC operation. With the battery offline, the perfectly stabilised output also lets the Phoenix work as a DC power supply.
Precise, battery-friendly regulation
Every Phoenix ships with a battery temperature sensor that lowers charge voltage as the battery warms — important for sealed batteries that can dry out if overcharged — and a voltage-sense facility that compensates for cable losses so the bank receives exactly the right voltage at its terminals (absorption 14.4 V / 28.8 V, float 13.8 V / 27.6 V, storage 13.2 V / 26.4 V).
PC-configurable (no app required)
The Phoenix is a pre-app-era charger: it has an RS-485 data port for full parameter customization from a computer using Victron's free VEConfigure software and an MK2-USB interface, plus an optional Charger Control (CC) panel for remote status, output-current limiting on a small shore fuse or genset, and on-board adjustment. There is no Bluetooth or GX/VE.Direct connectivity — if you want app monitoring and VE.Smart networking, look at the Blue Smart IP22 or Phoenix Smart IP43 instead.
Built for the engine room
The enclosure is epoxy powder-coated aluminium (RAL 5012), rated IP21, with forced cooling and vibration resistance to the automotive standard. All four models share the same compact chassis — 350 × 200 × 108 mm (13.8 × 7.9 × 4.3 in), just 3.8 kg (8 lb) — so they drop neatly into tight installations. Battery connections are M6 studs; AC lands on a screw-clamp up to 4 mm² (AWG 11). Operating range −20 to +60 °C.
Choosing your model
Match the output current to your bank — the 12V models cover 30 A (100–400 Ah) and 50 A (200–800 Ah), and the 24V models cover 16 A (100–200 Ah) and 25 A (100–400 Ah). The recommended capacity range for each model is on its variant below.
