The Orion-Tr Smart isolated DC-DC charger turns your engine alternator (or any source battery) into a smart, multi-stage charger for a second bank. On a boat or vehicle, the run from the alternator to the house battery is long, and the voltage sags — so the house bank never quite fills. The Orion-Tr Smart fixes that: it takes the variable input voltage and delivers a precise, fully regulated charge to the service battery, while protecting the starter battery it draws from. Set it up over Bluetooth, and it works with lead-acid and lithium banks alike.
Why “isolated” matters
This model provides full galvanic isolation (200 VDC between input, output, and case), so the source and destination battery grounds are electrically separated. That eliminates ground loops, cuts electrical noise, and is the safer choice in mixed-grounding marine systems or installs with sensitive electronics — for example when the input negative and output negative cannot be common. If your system shares a common negative and you don't need isolation, the non-isolated Orion-Tr Smart is a lighter, lower-cost alternative.
Adaptive 3-stage charging — lead-acid and lithium
The charger uses a true bulk → absorption → float algorithm. For lead-acid banks it shortens absorption after shallow discharges and extends it after deep ones; for lithium it uses a fixed absorption time (2 hours default). Profiles are fully configurable to your battery maker's spec, or you can set a fixed output voltage and run the unit as a stabilized DC power supply.
Built for modern “smart” alternators (Euro 5 / Euro 6)
Newer vehicles and engines use ECU-controlled alternators whose output voltage can drop too low to charge a service battery. The Orion-Tr Smart's engine-running detection starts charging only when the engine is actually running and stops when it isn't — so it never drains the starter battery at rest. This makes it the right tool for both classic and smart-alternator installations.
Bluetooth setup and monitoring
Built-in Bluetooth lets you monitor, configure, and update the charger from the VictronConnect app — charge state, input/output voltage, warnings, and alarms, with an instant readout right on the device list. (Note: this model has no VE.Direct port, so it is configured and monitored over Bluetooth rather than through a GX device.)
Easy, scalable installation
A remote on/off input lets an ignition signal, BMS contact, or switch control the unit. Connections are screw terminals (up to 16 mm² / AWG 6) — no special tools — and an unlimited number of units can be paralleled to scale up output current. Every model is short-circuit proof and high-temperature protected (output reduces gracefully at high ambient), rated IP43 on the electronics with the screw terminals oriented downward.
Choosing your model
Pick by input → output nominal voltage (12, 24, or 48 V), then by continuous output current. The range spans 220 W to 400 W — 8 A to 30 A of output depending on the model. Input ranges are 8–17 V (12 V input), 16–35 V (24 V input), and 32–70 V (48 V input). The exact input range, output voltage, and continuous current for each model are listed on the variant below.

Warranty Information
Shipping & Returns
We offer free shipping over $49. Lithium batteries & oversize items may have an applicable shipping charge.
We know returns are no fun so we aim to make the return process as hassle free as possible! We have a 60-day return policy, which means you have 60 days after receiving your item to request a return.
Lithium batteries and products with lithium batteries inside are non returnable: Due to carrier regulations surrounding the shipment of lithium batteries (classified as a fully regulated hazardous material), we are unable to accept returns unless arranged locally. We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to contact us with any questions prior to purchase.
