The proven 24V workhorse. Six horsepower of clean electric thrust for displacement boats up to 3 tons and sailboats up to 30 feet — at a price point that makes going electric easier than ever.
Overview
The Torqeedo Cruise 3.0 R is the 24-volt version of Torqeedo's most popular small-craft outboard — a quiet, dependable electric drive that's powered everything from yacht-club tenders to long-distance sailboat auxiliary runs. With 3,000 watts of input power, it delivers the propulsive equivalent of a 6 HP gasoline outboard, replacing two-stroke noise and fumes with smooth, instant electric thrust.
For owners who already run 24V battery banks or want a more affordable entry point into electric propulsion, the 24V Cruise 3.0 R is the right choice. Pair it with a single Power 24-3500 lithium battery for over an hour of full-throttle runtime, or all-day cruising at relaxed speeds, and scale up to as many as 16 Power 24-3500 batteries on the same system. The motor is also compatible with third-party 24V battery banks, though Torqeedo's own Power 24-3500 is strongly recommended for accurate range calculation and best system performance.
An integrated GPS-equipped onboard computer reads battery state, speed, power draw, and remaining range, while the rugged pylon with integral fin offers grounding protection in shallow water.
Key Features
- 6 HP propulsive equivalence from 3,000 W of input power — enough to push a 30-foot sailboat against tide and wind.
- 142 lbs of static thrust (ISO) for confident maneuvering in current and crosswinds.
- Whisper-quiet operation at all throttle positions.
- Built-in GPS and onboard computer with speed, power draw, battery state, and remaining range.
- Saltwater-ready with seawater-grade aluminum, galvanic isolation, and an included anode set.
- Rugged pylon with integral fin and manual tilt with grounding protection.
- Scalable battery system — start with one Power 24-3500 and expand to a 16-battery bank.
How to Measure Your Transom Height & Choose Your Shaft Length
Picking the right shaft length is the single most important fitment decision on any outboard. It comes down to your boat's transom height — if the shaft is too short the propeller ventilates and loses thrust; too long and it adds unnecessary drag.
- Measure your transom height. With the boat level, measure straight down from the top of the transom to the bottom of the hull at the centerline.
- Match it to the shaft option. The short shaft (24.6 in / 62.5 cm) suits transoms up to about 15 in (38 cm); the long shaft (29.7 in / 75.5 cm) suits transoms up to about 20 in (51 cm).
- When you're between sizes, size up. A slightly long shaft runs fine; a too-short shaft will cavitate.
| Shaft option | Total shaft length | Fits transom up to |
|---|---|---|
| Short | 24.6 in (62.5 cm) | ~15 in (38 cm) |
| Long | 29.7 in (75.5 cm) | ~20 in (51 cm) |
Cruise 3.0 R (24V) vs. Cruise 3.0 RS (48V)
This 24V model is the proven, lower-cost option, ideal if you're already invested in a 24V battery system or want a straightforward repower. If you're starting from scratch and want the latest TorqLink digital communication, TorqView app integration, and the 48V Power 48-5000 platform — including scaling to 16 batteries — take a look at the Cruise 3.0 R (48V) instead.
