The Victron MultiPlus-II is the all-in-one solution for your power needs. This device combines the functions of the MultiPlus and the MultiGrid to give you the best of both worlds. It offers all the features of the MultiPlus, including an external current transformer option for PowerControl and PowerAssist up to 32A, plus all the features of the MultiGrid with built-in anti-islanding and a long list of country approvals.

Power Assist - The MultiPlus-II safeguards against overloading a restricted AC source, such as a generator or shore power connection. Initially, battery charging will be diminished if an overload is unavoidable. If needed, the device can also increase the output of a generator or shoreside supply by drawing power from the battery.

ESS: Energy Storage Systems - The MultiPlus-II is the linchpin of a Victron ESS system, enabling it to be seamlessly intertwined with MPPT Solar Chargers or Grid-tie PV Inverters. For an understanding of this capability and further information, the ESS (Energy Storage System) manual is recommended.

Uninterrupted power AC Power - In the event of grid disruption or when shore or generator power is cut off, the MultiPlus-II inverter swiftly activates within 20 milliseconds, providing uninterrupted power to the connected loads.

Remote Monitoring and Control - The Victron MultiPlus-II Inverter Charger can be monitored and controlled remotely from anywhere in the world using the free VRM app and VRM portal website. Compatible with the GX device, like the Cerbo GX, you can access information on multiple devices, such as phones, tablets, laptops, and PCs. This grants you an unprecedented level of control, from altering settings to automatically starting a backup generator.

Quick Install Guide

Mounting the MultiPlus-II

Choose a solid, vertical surface to mount the MultiPlus-II. Ensure the installation space is dry, well-ventilated, and free from dust.
Secure the unit using the provided mounting holes at the top and bottom of the MultiPlus-II, leaving enough clearance around the unit for airflow.

Connecting the Battery (DC Side)

Use appropriate DC cables to connect the positive and negative terminals from the battery to the MultiPlus-II.
Install a fuse in line with the positive cable near the battery to protect against overcurrent.
If using lithium batteries, connect a Battery Management System (BMS) to manage the charging and discharging processes safely.

Connecting AC Input and Output

Wire the AC input (shore power or generator) to the designated AC input terminals on the MultiPlus-II.
Connect the AC output to your distribution board or directly to loads. Make sure to use the correct wire size for the AC side, based on your system’s specifications.
Follow local wiring regulations, and use strain reliefs to secure the cables.

Grounding the System

Connect the grounding terminal to the system’s earth point for safety.
Ensure both the DC and AC sides are properly grounded according to local regulations.

CONFIGURING THE SYSTEM

VEConfigure (Local Setup)

Download and install VEConfigure software on your computer from Victron Energy’s website.
Connect the MultiPlus-II to your computer using an MK3-USB.
NOTE: Computer needs to be a PC.
Open VEConfigure: Launch the software and detect the connected MultiPlus-II device.
Set battery charging parameters: Select the correct battery type (e.g., Lithium, AGM, Gel), and configure charge voltages and current limits to suit your battery bank.
Input current limit: Set the input current limit for shore power or generator, ensuring it matches your AC source to avoid overloads.
Inverter mode settings: Adjust inverter settings like AC input priority, PowerAssist, or other advanced features as needed.

VRM Remote VEConfigure (Remote Setup)

Access the VRM Portal: Log into the Victron Remote Monitoring (VRM) portal using your account credentials.
Connect to the MultiPlus-II via a GX Device: Ensure the system is connected to the internet via a Cerbo GX, Color Control GX, or similar GX device.
Select Remote VEConfigure: Navigate to the device’s settings in the VRM portal and choose the Remote VEConfigure option.
Configure charging settings: Similar to local setup, adjust battery type, charge voltages, and limits remotely.
Adjust inverter and input settings: Set inverter parameters, including input current limits, PowerAssist, or grid-tie settings, all through the portal.

Good inverter, minor complaints

This inverter is sturdy and seems to do what it says without much issue. I have it hooked up to a bank of AGM batteries and it charges them well and when the power switches off it powers the fridge I have connected without a hitch. Now, I would like the company to clarify a bit more clearly how much power this thing can push and through which outputs and under what circumstances. Best I can tell, it passes about 60 amps through as a bypass to output 1, and when it is inverting and power is off, it pushes out 3000 VA which is 25 amps at 120V. I also think the use of push to connect connections is non standard and a bit fiddly and not easy to use and they should have just gone with screw downs which are pretty standard. So not a feature but a flaw in my opinion. I did also get the cerbo gx mk2. It is supposed to be able to setup various triggers for the relays which I haven’t played with but is very nice. But I’m a bit annoyed that off the shelf touch screens will not work with this device which is a rPI based machine. The touch function is all wacky and doesn’t work. Perhaps it’s to force you to buy their cerbo screens but that just seems unnecessarily mean, so maybe they will fix this in an update, because an off the shelf rPI works just fine with pretty much any touch screen so they had to purposefully disable it. Anyway, so far a good all around device combination. Some minor gripes.
