Victron Energy VE.Bus BMS & VE.Bus BMS V2 (for Smart & NG Lithium)

The VE.Bus BMS is the battery management system that ties a Victron lithium bank to a VE.Bus inverter/charger. It monitors every cell for over-voltage, under-voltage, and over-temperature, and shuts the system down safely before any cell is damaged — disabling a MultiPlus, Quattro, or Phoenix Inverter directly over VE.Bus and switching off other loads and chargers through its disconnect outputs.

What the VE.Bus BMS does

• Protects single or multiple Victron lithium batteries from cell over/under-voltage and poor temperature conditions
• Disables inverting in VE.Bus inverter/chargers and drops non-critical loads via the Load Disconnect terminal on a cell under-voltage event
• Generates a pre-alarm signal to warn of an imminent under-voltage shutdown
• Can disable VE.Direct and VE.Can solar chargers through a GX device
• Remote on/off terminals, plus auxiliary power in/out so a GX device stays powered through a system shutdown
• Works alongside the Digital Multi Control, VE.Bus Smart dongle, and GX devices for system control

Which version do you need?

• VE.Bus BMS — the original unit for Victron Lithium Battery Smart banks with VE.Bus inverter/chargers.
• VE.Bus BMS V2 (Smart) — the updated generation for Lithium Battery Smart, with a dedicated charge-disconnect output for cleaner control of chargers and solar.
• VE.Bus BMS V2 (NG) — the V2 configured for the newer Victron Lithium NG battery range.

For stand-alone systems without a VE.Bus inverter/charger, the simpler SmallBMS is a lower-cost alternative. For large banks with a built-in contactor and battery monitor, see the Lynx Smart BMS.
